Reach Court Farm Wedding Photographer: a planning guide

Placeholder — photograph of the barn and gardens at Reach Court Farm to follow

Reach Court Farm is a family farm at St Margaret’s-at-Cliffe, between Dover and Deal, a few minutes inland from the White Cliffs. Two brothers run the weddings in a converted grain barn with landscaped gardens around it, and they’ve been doing it for over ten years. It’s about forty minutes from Canterbury.

This is a planning guide drawn from the venue’s own FAQs, guest information and price list. I haven’t photographed a wedding there.

The ceremony

The gazebo is oak-framed and sits at the end of a path through the trees. Up to a hundred guests. The walk down that path is the moment I’d plan around. Your guests are seated facing away from it, so I’d want to be at the front, looking back up the path, when you arrive.

The barn is the rain plan. The ceremony moves onto the dancefloor, capacity drops, and the bar may close while it happens. It works, but it’s a different day. Decide on the morning, not the night before, if you can.

The venue’s sample day puts the ceremony at 2pm, and guests are let in forty-five minutes before.

The light

The venue doesn’t publish orientation, and the photographer’s write-up I’d normally check has gone offline. What the setting does give you: gardens open to big coastal skies, trees along the ceremony path that filter midday light, and festoon lighting over the outdoor bar for when the sun goes.

The White Cliffs and South Foreland are close, but they’re not part of the venue. If you want clifftop photographs, plan it as a separate short trip with time and transport, not a stroll from the drinks reception.

Timings

  • Saturday packages get access to the barn the day before, which takes the pressure off the morning. Midweek weddings set up on the day.
  • Last orders at 11.30pm and close at midnight on Saturdays and bank holidays. Midweek, last orders at 10.30pm and close at 11pm.
  • Cars left overnight must be collected by 11am the next day.

Rules that affect the photographs

  • Confetti must be biodegradable. No glitter and no confetti cannons.
  • Sparkler send-offs are allowed. That’s less common than you’d think in Kent, and it’s the last photograph of the night if you want it. Fireworks, Chinese lanterns and fire pits aren’t allowed.
  • Outdoor music must be live and unamplified, and it stops at 8pm.
  • Catering comes from the venue’s list of approved caterers.
  • Wine. You bring your own table and toast wine with no corkage, which is unusual and generous.
  • Dogs, drones and candles aren’t covered in what’s published. Ask.

Practical notes

  • Capacity. 100 seated as standard, up to 120 with extra charges, and 200 in the evening. The barn and gardens are exclusive use.
  • Accommodation. None on site. There’s a hotel about five minutes’ walk away at St Margaret’s Bay, and Deal and Dover are ten minutes by taxi.
  • Getting here. Reach Road, St Margaret’s-at-Cliffe CT15 6AQ. Martin Mill station is five minutes by taxi, and Dover Priory is ten minutes with a taxi rank. Parking is in a field on site.
  • Phone signal is patchy and there’s no guest wifi. Put the timings and taxi numbers on paper.
  • Booking ahead. Published Saturday hire prices currently start with 2027, so summer 2026 Saturdays may already be gone.

If you’re comparing barn venues, here are four near Canterbury side by side.

From here

Reach Court is a farm wedding run by people who’ve done it for a decade, with clear rules and a generous approach to the things that matter on the day. That leaves the photographs free to be about your guests. Pricing is public, and you can get in touch any time.
