I’m Samuel, and I’ve spent seventeen years photographing people, many of them making documentary films. I take beautiful, honest photographs as your day happens, without you spending it posing for them.

I’m Samuel.
I live in Canterbury with my wife and daughter. Before weddings, I spent eight years making documentary films. Documentary teaches you to read a room before anything happens in it: who’s about to laugh, which door the story walks through next, when to move and when to stand completely still.
I photograph weddings the same way. I don’t line you up or ask you to do it again. I’m there, quietly, when it happens for real, so your photographs look like your day and not a photo shoot.

FAQs
So you never pose anyone?
Mostly I watch and wait — the best photographs are the ones nobody arranged. But documentary doesn’t mean passive. If you want group shots or twenty minutes of portraits, we’ll do them, and they’ll be relaxed and quick. Equal parts observation and direction, weighted heavily towards observation.
How many photos will we get?
Between 400 and 650 individually edited photographs for a full day, depending on coverage length. Delivered in a private online gallery with unlimited downloads, usually within six weeks.
What does being a filmmaker have to do with our wedding photos?
Documentary filmmaking teaches you to read a room — to know where a moment is about to happen and be standing there before it does, without anyone noticing you. That instinct doesn’t come from photography courses. It comes from years of filming real people on their real days, which is exactly what a wedding is.
Do you only cover Kent?
I’m based in Canterbury and most of my weddings are in Kent — but I travel happily. London, Sussex, Essex, further. No travel fees within Kent; elsewhere we’ll agree costs up front, with no surprises.
How do we book?
Send the form below or message me on WhatsApp. We’ll have a call or a coffee — no pitch, just checking we’re a good fit. A deposit holds your date; the balance isn’t due until a month before the wedding.
Why is your portfolio smaller than other photographers’?
Because I spent the last eight years directing documentaries and designing products instead of shooting weddings. I photographed weddings professionally before that, and I’m rebuilding the archive here as I scan it. The gap isn’t a weakness — it’s where the style comes from.
